The books you need for a sub I are:
1. Hand book of fx (koval)
2. Netter anatomy (orthopaedic handbook version)
3. Hoppenfield surgical exposures.
To rock in a sub I.
1. Be cool (the key is that the attendings and residents are looking for a cool person to hang out with for 5 years)
2. Show up early and leave late
3. Volunteer for cases, case reports, research projects, etc
4. Keep your interns and residents informed. This can not be OVER emphasized. They do not want surprises.
5. Respect the chain of command. E.g. do not try to show up junior residents with one pearl of anatomy you read the night be4 the case. They may have been up all night and will not take kingly to your "show off" move.
The bottom line is that you have to be your self and work hard.
