Thanks so much. I am a PGY4 and got 172 correct. I find this very depressing given the mean of 175 and the fact that I killed myself studying for that thing... Oh well.... very nice of you to provide the information, thanks again

I always felt the key to success was reading Miller's review and the latest OKU the month before the test. I also went through about four years of previous tests for the repeater questions.

Someone mentioned programs taking the test Open book earlier. This is insane. Clearly rumor and not based on anything but jealousy. I would love to hear from someone who actually will admit this. I am in a smaller program and we do very well on our OITE (how helpful these scores are clinically is an entirely different debate). I have had students this year ask us this question, as nearby programs are claiming we take the test open book. What program director is going to allow this? None. You do not become apart of the orthopedic world and in a position of program director by cheating. Keep in mind that these people are educators and by allowing your program to cheat on OITE is against everything that an educator stands for.

understand when a program gets 99th percentile for example, every person is not getting 99th percentile. some do, and some get 50th percentile. If the majority of your residents are getting above 75th percentile, your group score is going to be way up there. It is frustrating to have these rumors circulating because as a group we take pride in our scores and we come about our results honestly. Take the overall significance of this test for what its worth, but it is just one more piece of the puzzle. It shouldn't have too much weight placed on it, but it shouldn't be ignored either.

OK... my two cents. Sorry for ranting and raveing but I truly believe this is a rumor.

Thanks TT for your opinion.

I agree that taking the test open book is a pretty ridiculous idea and would compromise any integrity the program director and their program would have.

I was wondering what your (or your program's) strategy is for taking on the oite?

Thanks.
