Being new to this, I'm curious, do programs usually send out all their interviews on one day or will they continue to roll in after they send out their first wave of invites. Right now I'm specifically referring to Mayo. Thanks guys.

Turning down Case Western and Mayo for Jefferson...I hope they are worth it...

I am trying to make this same decision between Mayo and Jefferson. Why did you choose Jeff? I know very little about either program.

Turning down Case Western and Mayo for Jefferson...I hope they are worth it...

I am trying to make this same decision between Mayo and Jefferson. Why did you choose Jeff? I know very little about either program.

Location was probably the biggest factor. Rochester is terrible per everyone I know who has ever been there in the winter (6+ months of the year). Jefferson is in center city philly which is one of the nicer areas. Much better place to live and 45 minute drive from family.

Both are very highly regarded programs but I expect Jefferson to get more volume. Jefferson has been siphoning some top faculty from UPenn which may indicate they are a program on the rise (even though many consider to be top tier already).

Jefferson is probably more spine heavy than I would like because if you don't do spine you don't need to know any of it. And if you do do spine, you will undoubtably fellowship and get your exposure there.

I expect Jefferson to get more trauma than Mayo which I consider an important aspect of orthopaedic training.

I have never been to either program so this is all from what I hear so take it as you will. You will be well trained at either with a great name and unlimited fellowship opportunities. But one thing I do know is that Center City Philly >>> Rochester and I have a wife to keep happy.
