Replied by on topic i got the email and

i got the email and was wondering the same thing. Counted 19 people on the email list and they were basically the same people on the original interview invite list. I dont think it's much.

uhh..u know they interview around 80 people right? 19/80 invitations seems like it may look good for people on that list...obviously opinion

They sent 3 batches of invites. My batch had about 23 people. 19/23......not that encouraging. I also know people who definately got called and were not on the email list.

Replied by on topic I got that email as
I got that email as well (with 19 people on it) but my interview invite had 80-90 names on it. The smaller invite batches probably went out a bit later in the season. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I've got a feeling that they may have sent the san diego letter to people they've ranked. re: the calls to people not listed...maybe they were for the 6 year spots?

Replied by on topic c'mon guys...if Penn is sending
c'mon guys...if Penn is sending out an email to their formal. Annual. PENN. Ortho. Alumni. Dinner at this years AAOS, I think it is common sense to assume that they are doing so for recruiting purposes. Do you honestly believe they are sending that type of invite to people that are a longshot to match at their program. I know everyone wants to be "the glass half empty guy" during this process because you honestly do have to take everything with a grain of salt...but I think you can rest assured, that if you received that email you are considered to be competitive to match at Penn.

Replied by on topic Not to burst anyone's bubble,
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but I got the Penn-San Diego e-mail and checked it with the original interview invite and they sent it to exactly the same people in order minus like 3 names who probably cancelled. Either my session has all the best candidates that they interviewed or it means nothing. I'm going with number 2. So looks like I'm in their top 70, Philly here I come!

Replied by on topic I also got the invite
I also got the invite from Penn for the alumni dinner. I didn't do any fancy investigative work, but I did get a call from the Chairman which I'm putting more money on.

If you got a call, you are probably top 8-10. I wouldn't focus too much on email invite.

I also got a call from UCSF, but no "love letters" from other west coast programs.
