Post-Interview Antics

It's time a thread was started to address the specific topic of post-interview "activity" and what different programs are known to do. Which programs really "want" to get a thank-you letter? Whic programs need you to come for a second-look in order for you to match there? Which programs don't care? Which send letters? Who makes calls? etc...

Facts are good. Rumors are fine. Let's hear it all.

HSS sends a letter indicating in which of 3 tiers you are ranked. I learned about this on thus forum and it has been verified by residents in the program. I am not sure how highly they value thank-you notes. I am not sure when the letters go out.

I have heard rumors that if you did not rotate at Duke most applicants "should" do a second-look if they want to be ranked highly...

At Pitt, I have hear that Freddie Fu makes, or has made, some calls. Anyone have any more info about this?

Utah calls their top 5 and sends a letter to their top 10.

Sinai said during the interview that they would tell you "relatively" where you were on their rank list if you contacted them. Has anyone done this, and if so, who do you contact?
