I agree with MaceWindu,

Hopkins is weak. I translate what they said in their denial as "If the people we want realize that our program is not that good and go elsewhere, we will give you suckasses a call to make sure we don't leave spots unmatched"

To that I say, "F-U"

Not that I'm bitter or anything.....

Replied by on topic I actually got an interview
I actually got an interview from a program that I had received a rejection from a few days earlier. I was told that I had received the rejection notice in error. I do not know if that was true or if they simply felt sorry for giving me false hope and didnt have the heart to rip the interview out of my hands. Regardless, I am very happy to have the interview. I figure once you get the interview, everyone is on fairly equal footing. Maybe I am being way too optimistic, but I hope some of you benefit from the half-rejection. Good luck.

Replied by on topic Some programs send out what
Some programs send out what they think are enough interview invites only to find that candidates are turning them down. The programs then go through more applications--the ones they may have initially thought were good but not their top choices--and then send out more invitations. I think they do this until they become confident that they have enough committed interviewees to rank to guarantee filling their spots. This is one of the reasons why I think interviews come in waves. These programs don't give rejections, instead they put applications on hold.
Now, hopkins just rejects people and expects the rejected applicants to forgive them later on if an interview is granted because they are HOPKINS.

11/16 e-mail from Columbia

"As you are aware, the applicant pool is extraordinarily strong and the competition for application spots is fierce. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you an interview for our residency."

Replied by on topic Holy crap does carolinas medical
Holy crap does carolinas medical center hate me...they sent me my second rejection e-mail today. Was I supposed to write them back and acknowledge my shortcomings to their wonderful program the first time? Give me a break.
