This is a great book for students to use to prepare for physical exams in clinic. It provides the basics of the orthopedic exam. Most residents probably have a copy, but after a couple of years in residency, probably haven't touched it for a while as they seek out other books/articles for specialty exams.

Replied by on topic Another similar kind of book
Another similar kind of book is by McRay that is illustrative and each examination begins with a introduction to different diseases in the related area and brief discriptions

Replied by on topic I was actually going to
I was actually going to start a new topic and ask about this book, but since I saw the thread I will post here. I know this book is older, I think 1976 copyright. Is there anything newer, or do you feel that it is still a good book?

Also, do you know of any good physical exam articles that a worth reading for a PGY-1 tring to get prepared for next year?

Thanks for your help.

Replied by orthodoc on topic This book is a classic
This book is a classic and should be in the library of every orthopedist. The only other PE book that is good, is Bruce Reider's Physical Exam book. Of course with todays modern technology, some of the CD ROMs available through the academy on selected joint exams are excellent.
