Intern book suggestions? was created by voltagegsr
Greetings.

A few more weeks left before intern year begins - I can't belive I'm
actually getting bored of being on vacation..but I better enjoy while it last.

I was wondering if any current residents could give soon to be interns
suggestions on books for the first year - including pocket books to carry.

We have a pretty normal intern year with two months of ortho, two months of trauma, peds, etc etc

Any general intern books to help? I can't even remember how to right
orders or a post op note..so - figured i would READ something prior
to being thrown in there.

Thanks!

Voltage - I have heard that the oxford handbook of clinical surgery is an excellent "fits in your pocket book" that covers just about everything an intern needs to know. it's cheap, and not too heavy.

bump...

Hoping someone can share something about what ortho specific book is good to read (and obviously I already know rockwood and green or hoppenfeldt's) during intern year so that you have a decent breadth of knowledge when you do both your intern rotations and start 2nd year.

There is a good pocket book for Orthopaedics by Ronald McRae.
It is concise and contains lot of relevant information for interns. It will also build up your basics if our gonna specialise into orthopaedics.
