some info on me:
257/239 step1/2... ( did not give enough time for step 2 to fit in aways and stuff, big mistake i know)
honored surgery clerkship
not AOA, one pub as a 3rd author and one ongoing project....
i got interviews at my away programs only and i suspect it is because my step 2 is getting me caught in filters (i hear most programs have a hard cut off at 240).... i'm not sure what else can be wrong and am planning to meet with PDs to go over where i fell short. Going to do a prelim year in gen surg at reputable program
Advice:
1. should i reapply ortho? if so what can i possibly to do to improve my application with just 2 months between starting intern year and applications going out..
2. what should i do with my next couple of months before residency starts to take advantage of free time to improve application?
3. planning on dual applying to anesthesia because if i do not match again, i think it's time for me to move on from the idea of becoming an orthopod and not put my dependents through so much uncertainty again.
any advice would be much appreciated.
