major traffic infraction affect chances?

Hi,
not sure if anyone has ever run into a similar problem but ive recently received what is known as a driving with ability impaired (DWAI) which is considered a traffic violation where I reside and so I will have no criminal record but I assume I will have to disclose as it may come up in a background check.
I was wondering how this would affect my chances of matching into top tier programs or any program for that matter...
Aside from this blemish/red flag I have never had any issues legally or academically,
I am somewhat of a competitive applicant aside from this current mishap which I regret to the fullest extent and understand that this was totally y fault and have no excuses for
I would love any input thank you
