Hey so I recently made a post but it was some what convoluted so Ill try and make this one better.
I attend a northeastern medical school that is in the top 50 and have lived in the northeast my whole life.
what I have done thus far:
- passed first two years of medical schools with no fails (school goes by a pass fail system)
- I have volunteered at the school free clinic
- I have been a TA for anatomy at my medical school
- conducted research in ortho with a paper hopefully coming out soon
-got in the 260-265 range on step 1
- Just started MS3
-have some ortho docs that can give me some strong letters.

so I was wondering what my chances are of being able to match to a west coast hospital like UCSF or any school in the california area.. even something like seattle
- I ask this cause many people have said that since I have never been out of the north east itll be hard to match out west
- I have family moving to california soon and dont have much remaining family in the northeast (very small family)
-what can i do to increase my chances?

pretty easy solution, set up a few away rotations on the west coast. just remember your best chances are in the region where you go to med school.

The more local the better.

UCSF specifically is a WAY different question than "anywhere on the West Coast"

You've got good stats. Your chances of ending up on the west coast are low. Your chances of ending up at UCSF are unicornly low
