Do programs require Step 2 CS to rank you?

Do programs require Step 2 CS to rank you? Debating taking it in December before interviews start versus Feb after they end..

Some do require that you have taken this but others do not. I'm not sure how many do. If you do very well on Step 1 you will likely find many programs interested in you, that will not need Step 2. If you have a middling Step 1, my advise would be to take Step 2 and be sure to make an effort to improve your score. That's what I did and it helped me match. Good luck!
