Interview without rotation?

Interview without rotation? was created by DOortho
Are there any programs out there that still interview and actually consider applicants who don't do an audition rotation? Seems like we had some great ortho info a couple years ago but haven't had a lot of traffic on forums lately.

Yes there are, I know because I had 4 interviews at places I didn't rotate at this year. Better have solid scores, or insane research/letters though. For privacy purposes I will not say where but it shouldn't matter because you should apply everywhere anyways, unless you take the time to look up each individual program to see if they specifically say they don't interview unless you rotated.
Also, if you do get an interview somewhere you didn't rotate the odds are REALLY against you matching there, they will tell you that everyone interviewing is on the same playing field, which is a load of bull. I don't blame them either, if two guys/girls destroy an interview and have similar stats they will ALWAYS pick a guy/girl who rotated. I am guessing the only way you could match at a place without rotating is if they fall down their rank list a descent amount.
This was a tough year. Lots of people I know who were great candidates who failed to match. I can't imagine going through that hell for 6 months and not matching. Glad to have matched and it be all over.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand it is a long shot to get in to a place you didn't rotate, but was just curious if anywhere actually considers non-rotators. Did you apply to every program? Congrats on matching this year!

I am a few years removed from the interview scene, but just wanted to throw my two cents in. I did NO AWAY ROTATIONS when I was in medical school and I still had 15-20 interviews as far as I recall. And I was NOT top of my class or anything but I did "well"... but my USMLE were only mid 230's etc.
I am NOT saying DO NOT DO away rotations but I would have thought that interviews at places where one did not rotate were more the norm than an anomaly. Just my two cents.... good luck
oops....i am a MD...did not notice this was in DO forum....sorry
