Would I be doing myself service by deferring COMLEX level 2 until December or January? Are there programs out there that will consider applicants with only a level 1 score?? If so, which programs do you suggest?

nope

almost every program will want to see your step 2 score. take them latest by aug, so that you have them ready by oct at the latest.

and make sure when you take them you kill it like you did on step 1


also, from my understanding is that most AOA programs require you to have passed step 2 before a residency contract can be offered to you.

ultimately you'll need to take them sooner or later.

HOWEVER, you can wait to take the step 2 PE until dec or jan.... many programs just want to make sure you've registered for it. I say take it in late Jan, because by then most programs have selected their candidates.
