Corvalis, Oregon Program

So I called the program coordinator at Corvalis, OR and asked a few questions about the program. She told me that you need 700 on the COMLEX to have a chance at their program. That sounds pretty ridiculous, even the most selective programs screen around 600+ or so.

Anyone else has any info on this program, anyone rotated here? 700+ just sounds extreme, I think only a handful of people get that kind of score in any given year and for a program to screen around that score is ridiculous.

looks like my 690 wont cut it. i guess i wont apply there.

That is not true. I rotated there and I know the current interns and also the students that are planning on matching there do not have over 700 on comlex.

I rotated there, definitely not the case. I know that at least three of the residents are sub 550 score people. I think the program has a chance to be good but currently there are a lot of concerns about volume and exposure, very limited from what I saw, you have very questionable ER, peds and trauma exposure. We will see how things progress but take the full scope into your thought process. In hindsight, rotating there was a waste of my time as there are too many better DO programs. who knows, in 5 to 10 years it might be a different story.

I imagine the program's trauma experience is marginal. Most big ortho trauma in Oregon goes to OHSU and Emanuel in Portland. Both of these hospitals are covered by OHSU orthopedic residents. They on the other hand get a great trauma experience...
