Logging procedures/cases as intern was created by graftpunk
Yes, no?

I feel like if I'm not the one doing the reduction, or not the first assist on a case, no reason to log it. But I don't know how ACGME works and what CPT's or cases are loggable.

How did you do it?

Replied by on topic IMHO, even if you are
IMHO, even if you are not first assist/primary surgeon, you are still gaining a lot from being in any case early on. Just because you are not getting hands-on experience does not make it any less worthy of being logged. In addition, it is good to figure out how to log cases and unbundle early on when you have some more time (it's actually tougher to find things than it should be...)
You can also code for things like placing splints and casts, even if done outside the OR.

Once you get your login (your admin should know it), you can go to resident login and then start adding cases. You can log multiple CPTs per case; you can either use the search engine or enter in the CPT directly.

Replied by on topic log as much as possible
With the advent of government-controlled healthcare, and various ways of rating / testing physician competence, there will come a time when our certification will depend on our surgical skills / experiences. So your documented residency experience will matter a lot. Imagine being told by a hospital or insurance company that you can't perform closed reductions of distal radius fractures in the ER because you neglected to log those during residency (code 25605)! Maybe its somewhat paranoid, but looks like its a good idea to log every case / procedure you see, do, or even think about.
