TSF/Ex Fix question was created by corona247
Was asked: What is the relationship between angulation and displacement when adjusting a TSF. Can anyone answer, or direct me to a good resource. I have tried websurfing, but have come up empty.

I believe the ratio is 1:1 for most instances, but remember there are some kind of exceptions or changes in the ratio.

thanks

Doug

I don't think that I understand your question. Whoever asked you the question was probably trying to ask about deformity correction at the CORA (center of rotation and angulation). The further you make an osteotomy from the CORA (proximally or distally), the more displacement you will get upon correction of the deformity.

The actual program for the TSF is a very complex formula that corrects all defomities at the same time as you drive a correction (i.e. is doesn't do varus/valgus first and then do a/p translation second).

The best reading on this is at www.jcharlestaylor.com . Download the basic TSF pdf and it has a good deal of what you will be looking for.
