Interesting. I never seen folks where lead gloves or eyewhere at my medschool or my residency. But you do make a valid point.

I think it really depends on what your exposure is. but if you are constantly surrounded by radiation, direct or scatter, then you need to be protected. There is a big push in facilities called ALARA stands for As Low As Reasonably Achievable. Although this refers specifically to patient i think staff should be thinking along the same lines.
