Obviously LORs and being clinically competent is what matters most as a resident, but do competitive fellowships place much importance on research when considering your application vs. other clinically competent residents?

My program is not as research oriented as some others in the state and I'm concerned that this will hurt my chances of getting an academic centered fellowship.

All opinions are welcome.
