Loupes

Anyone have any recs on where/from whom to get loupes? I have decided I need them if only to save my eyes.

I really like my Surgical Acuity Loupes. They are lighter weight and have a larger viewing area than the "traditional" Buddy Holly style loupes that most attendings have. I got mine through a local sale representative and he came to measure me. They will also let you change out your focal length during your residency (i.e. you can change 2.8x mag for 3.5x). So, depending on what you want to do, you can keep your options open.

Some of our residents have Surgical Acuity, some have Designs for Vision. Both seem well made, but the Designs for Vision customer service is horrible. They screwed up my order twie twice and sent me two pairs of the same loupes. They they kept billing my department even though they were already paid. Your experience may vary with this company, but ours sucks. The rep in our area is pretty absent-minded and screws up the orders as well. You need loupes-It is pretty hard to do hand or spine without them.
