Sports Medicine Jobs in California? was created by stanford_playah
I'm trying to decide on what area to go with for fellowship. I enjoy sports and think it's a good fit for me. However, I keep hearing from people that it's almost impossible to get a decent sports job in California nowadays, and apparently this has been the case even before the current hiring freezes went into effect. I would like to stay in California or in any large city, but most of all I want enough time in my schedule to be able to travel. Are there any other fields besides sports that will allow me to have enough free time in my schedule to do a lot of travel?

Anyone have recent firsthand experience with getting hired for sports in California? Any suggestions as to what other fields might be worth considering if staying in California and traveling are my priorities?

Thanks for the input.

Building a case volume is very difficult in most areas - most of the US. I will recommend considering a job with places like Kaiser or other clinics where you will get the patient volume that you need for professional growth without fighting for it.. Once you have become seasoned doc and get boards out of the way - you will be in position to branch out on your own - in the same town.
