Arthroscopy course was created by blahblahblah
Are there any other basic level scope courses besides the AANA one? I keep getting waitlisted and locked out of their course and really need some hands on experience. I guess it was stupid for me to assume that they would put my registration form/payment towards the following course after I got waitlisted the first time.

I am also on the hunt for alternative arthroscopy courses. Surely there are some out there. Any ideas??

Replied by on topic AANA does the most arthroscopy
AANA does the most arthroscopy courses. Unfortunately, we don't offer as many resident basic courses as in years past. We have now expanded into two basic courses and an advanced course per year. Looks like the next available basic course is August 2010.

As for alternatives, you can always take one of the regular knee or shoulder courses through AANA. In addition, AAOS occasionally has an arthroscopy course with AOSSM or AANA. You'd have to look at their CME list to see if any are coming up.

OrthoDoc, what is the breakdown of attendings vs residents at these regular knee/shoulder courses that AANA offers? I am a junior resident (already finished our Jr sports rotation) that can't attend the official AANA resident course but really want to attend something this year--perhaps the regular knee vs shoulder course. However, I would hate to sign up for something that is designed for those well beyond my level (e.g., fellowship trained sports arthroscopists). Thanks

Replied by on topic The vast majority of those
The vast majority of those at the regular course are docs out in practice. They usually try to pair people up with someone with similar skill level. I did a couple of the AANA courses when I was a resident and really got a lot out of it.
