Replied by on topic Our program, a few years
Our program, a few years ago, restricted us from getting paid to cover football games. Their reasoning was that we were not covered under the liability insurance with the hospital. We can still go with an attending as long as we're not paid (it's assumed to be educational then). For me, it just wasn't worth the risk. I was too scared some kid would get paralyzed and I would be the only guy there with no coverage if I got sued. Plus, if I had a Friday night off, I'd rather spend it with my family.

For high school games we get paid $50. Both teams typically have trainers, so we really don't do anything unless they can't or if it goes to the ER.
