Maimonides is on probation because of a bad peroid two years ago when the chairman left with many of the faculty. Residents then followed suit causing a lot of turn over, uncertainty and low moral. The new chairman has brought in 5 new faculty members in spine peds and sports, increased the operative volume and focused on medical education (with the support of the hosp adm and lots of $$$). Resident moral has increased dramatically with the changes and so to has the training environment.
