Kind of on the same subject...

Have any of you checked out www.SharingDoctors.com ? What do you think about sharing your peer-to-peer presentations across the country?

We've tried to do this in several orthopedic organizations, but it always comes down to copy-write issues with all of the "borrowed" tables, images, photos, etc...

Aren't there some allowances for "educational use"?

I understand that it's not cool to rip off someone's work and publish it as your own. But to use tables, charts, graphs, etc. as a small part of a larger presentation that is given to a small group of peers shouldn't cross any lines.

Any thoughts? Any LAWYERS out there who can give some ideas?

I did a little checking on this.

The law does allow for reproduction of small portions of the works of others for nonprofit and educational purposes.

The terms of service at www.SharingDoctors.com also include a waiver of copyright allowing any member of the site to use material (some or all of it) in peer-education activities.

The terms PROHIBIT publication or public presentation of another person's work found on SharingDoctors.com without the express permission of the author.
