What would you recommend are the best books to read/study during intern year? My 3 months of ortho are not until the end and I would like to be as ready as possible.

Thanks

I would suggest reading a very basic orthopedic core knowledge book such as Orthopedic Essentials or something similiar. It's a good way to get a generalized overview of orthopedics that you can then start building on. I personally read a similiar book no longer published as well as the Orthopedic Basic Science book during my intern year. The basic science book is a hard read, but I did well in that area on my OITE for the next five years because of it.

Thanks.

As I side note how should I approach my intern year. Do I treat each rotation as I did on Sub Is or other rotations and concentrate solely on that rotation. Reading about Gen surg those months and focus broadly on that or should I Focus on my patients, general patient care lessons and basic surgical technique that I will use as an orthopod.

Thanks
