When can I scrub? was created by tcar18
So, not really sure which forum this was more appropriate for.
I have been doing research with a couple of ortho guys for the last two years (prior to med school) Now I am a first year. When can I ask if I can "scrub sometime"
if soon is the answer... any advice (no experience here).
Thanks all
Hope everyone is enjoying the Bear's victory!

Hey man, I'd ask now. You're a MS1 and have been with them for 2 years...it's go time.
In the OR, kiss up to the nurse and ask her/him to help you out. Let them know you're a newbie. Just stand where you're told to start and don't touch anything until you're told to do so.

Thanks for the advice: I asked I scrubbed! Got to hold some retractors, irrigate, suction and even put in a few stitches. But the best was having a front row seat for two ankle fussions. I'm sure this will get old eventually but for now... I'm all over it.
Thanks for the advice, I wouldn't have asked without that little nudge.
