This radiograph was sent from a friend who is doing a presentation for his PT project, he wanted some infor about the prosthetic. This was one of his patients. My knowledge is limited (4th year medical student), and I've never seen a femoral component like this, so I thought I would get your input.

Looks like a tumor prosthesis. A proximal femoral replacement type system. Its also used in severe proximal bone loss.

This looks more like a long stem revision prosthesis. You would use this if you had to revise a long femoral component with an ectatic femoral canal from osteolysis. The cerclage wires could be from a coffin lid osteotomy of the femur in case you cant get the damn thing out.
