Position Title: VTC Hand Surgery Orthopaedic Clinical Development & Research Position at Carilion Clinic Virginia Tech, Roanoke,VA.  

Who: Graduated residents looking for a dedicated clinical and research experience in hand and upper extremity surgery, preparing them for practice or for an ACGME-accredited hand surgery fellowship  

Where: Carilion Clinic Virginia Tech, Roanoke,VA  

When: Beginning July or August 1, 2023, depending on the fellow's avaliblity.  

Salary: Competitive paid position through Carilion Clinic with full-time benefits.  

Review: Rolling basis, plan to offer position by April 15,2023.  

Description: VTC Hand Surgery Clinical Development & Research Fellowship position is a  non-accredited fellowship. The fellowship will be 80% clinical and 20% research. This position is for a motivated, organized, and responsible individual and is intended to enhance the fellow's research and clinical experienceOn-call and surgical independence will be commensurate with the case complexity and fellow’s skill set.  The fellow will have 1-2 independent research projects. The fellow will be expected to attend the hand educational conferences affiliated the VTC hand fellowship program.  The VTC  hand section is comprised of 7 full-time fellowship-trained hand surgeons who cover the full spectrum of the hand surgery including routine outpatient hand surgery, arthroscopy, nerve reconstruction and pediatrics. The fellow will have frequent one-on-one mentorship with the two lead clinician scientists (Cesar J. Bravo, MD-clinical; Peter J. Apel, MD PhD-research). The fellowship is in Roanoke, Virginia, a very livable city located in western Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are a four-season community with an abundance of outdoor activities and easy access to the larger metropolitan areas of the mid-Atlantic.
