Dr. Harpal (Paul) Khanuja is seeking an ambitious and dedicated medical student who is interested in pursuing a year-long research fellowship focused on hip and knee replacement.

This fellowship is designed for medical students between their 3rd and 4th years who have a strong interest in research and a desire to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery. Students who have already graduated medical school may also apply.

Job Title: Clinical Research Fellow

Mentor: Harpal S. Khanuja M.D. Chief of Hip and Knee Replacement, Johns Hopkins University. Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, JHU Bayview Medical Center. Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery

Location: Johns Hopkins University, Bayview Campus

Dates: 1 year, June 2017 through June 2018 (dates are flexible)

Prerequisites:

Motivated medical student dedicated to pursuing orthopaedic surgery
Research experience
Self-management and organizational skills
Strong writing skills
Strong academic record

Goals and Responsibilities: The research fellow will have the opportunity to conduct several research projects, ultimately leading to numerous publications, abstracts, and presentations at national orthopaedic conferences. The central focus will be on clinical research pertaining to hip and knee arthroplasty. He/she will also have the opportunity to meet and work with several of the Hopkins orthopaedic staff and residents and will participate in weekly grand rounds and journal clubs. This experience will undoubtedly strengthen the applicants candidacy for orthopaedic surgery residency programs.
