American Hip Institute Clinical Research Fellowship
(Sports Medicine & Hip Preservation)
Drs. Benjamin G. Domb and Ajay C. Lall
2019-2020 and 2020-2021
Position Title: Clinical Research Fellow
Positions: 1 annually
Who: US medical students between M2/M3, M3/M4, or M4/R with specific interest in high-volume, clinical outcomes and biomechanical research in the field of orthopaedic surgery.
Where: American Hip Institute, Chicago, IL
Start: June 2019
Salary: Research Stipend
Prerequisites:
• Planned career in Orthopaedic Surgery
• Ability to work well with research team members
• Proven history of interest in research
• Strong academic record
Description of Program:
• 12 months
• Research Focus:
o Minimally-invasive techniques for: treatment of labral tears, FAI, subspine and ischiofemoral impingement, dysplasia, and microinstability.
o Also included: peri-acetabular osteotomy, Birmingham hip resurfacing, and hip arthroplasty (direct anterior, posterior, and Mako robotic-assisted).
• Participation in research meetings, journal clubs, symposiums and professional society meetings both nationally and internationally.
• Demonstrate proficiency in clinical research including study design, IRB compliance, informed consent, data collection, data analysis, statistics, oral presentation, manuscript preparation, and book chapter/textbook writing.
• Multiple Podium and Poster presentation opportunities
• Manuscript publication minimums in peer-reviewed journals
• Unlimited opportunity to observe orthopaedic clinics / operating rooms
• Participation in cadaver labs with surgical fellows on a monthly basis
• Fellow will work under the direction of Benjamin G. Domb, MD and Ajay C. Lall, MD, MS.
Goals of Program:
• Investigate biomechanical and clinical aspects of the disease processes affecting the hip joint
• Fellow should expect a minimum of 15-20 manuscript publications / abstracts / posters / book chapters by end of year
• High Level of expectation to match into Orthopaedic Surgery Residency, with help during the match process from Dr. Domb and Dr Lall.

No it looks like every other research fellowship aside that it's a private group and not an academic center...but Dr. Domb is well known in the sports world
