This is pretty egregious. You're correct in that it is short notice.

Agreed. There needs to be more respect shown for the other applicants.

It's his interview to do with what he wants... you don't know if he got another offer last minute. This isn't a place to pass judgement on other applicants, its a place to swap interviews.
