In the thread from last year someone estimated that half receive interviews. I'm not sure what his source was though. Also it was mentioned you could receive an invitation with only 1-2 days notice. Isn't this process so exciting?!

I received interviews from 1/5th of the waitlists I was on. Becomes increasingly likely to get off of the waitlist the later in the interveiw season that particular program holds interviews. People get sick of interviewing and tend to start dropping their interviews that are mid to late January.

I have also heard from others that if there is a program you are waitlisted on or a program that hasn't sent you a rejection that it could be beneficial to call them late Dec/early Jan and re-express interest and relate to them that you can be available for an interview short notice if one comes up. Can't hurt.
