Interview Swap 2012/2013

2 of the programs that interviewed me this week had open spots on interview day due to people who either didn't show up or cancelled last minute. This is absolutely unprofessional and selfish. I personally have classmates who were wait listed at both places. If you are not going to an interview, have a little respect for your future colleagues and cancel early.

If I were a chair or PD, I would share the names of such individuals with other PDs...

i think its time for everyone holding conflicting spots to start cancelling... the December season already had too many no-shows, and there's time still to decline with appropriate notice so they can give your spot to a waitlisted applicant.

if you're in a position to be cancelling anything at all, you're probably in a better state than many others who might be waiting on the edge of their seat to hear from that conflicting program you aren't really all that interested in going to anyway
