Now that a large number of programs have started sending both interview offers and rejections, what does it mean to not hear back at all from a program? Also, how many programs send out formal wait-list notifications other than Michigan?

I'm also curious about this. Of the programs listed (not a comprehensive list I'm sure) in the interview/rejection threads, I've applied to 30ish of them and have only heard official interview/rej from 11. Based on some of the interview/rej threads from years past a lot of programs send out formal rejections months after interviews, btu not all programs did this.

It really sucks to hear this. I think I'm going to lay off of orthogate for a couple of days...... Good luck to everyone

I assume that there is a wait list for some of these programs. I have gotten rejection letters much later than others have.

I also got waitlisted at Indiana. If anyone doesn't want to go to their interview at Indiana, I would gladly take it!

Would it be a bad idea to contact 1 or 2 programs that you are really interested in but haven't heard either way from?

I did this a few weeks ago...I've been informed that this is a smart thing to do but you better have some good reasons to back up your expressed interest. You never know if it might tip you over the edge into an interview.
