Interview Offers Thread 2009-2010

hrm, not sure about baylor. But last I heard it was under probation for something.

I interviewed there last year and was frightened by the program. I didn't apply there this year. It seemed like they had an abnormally busy experience at their community/county hospital, ben taub. The residents were explaining to me that they have so many cases, that they operate all through the night, every night. No, they're not emergent cases, but cases that they can't get to throughout the day. They're actually scheduled for the evening. I was also told that the residents are on their own for these. That freaked me out as well.

I don't know if I got the whole story right, but that was enough to frighten me away from applying there again

Yeah, I interviewed there last year and heard similar horror stories. They've also been having a lot of financial problems (the hospital, not necessarily the ortho department) and have been negotiating with Rice about a merger to help bail themselves out. The faculty and residents seemed like a genuinely fun and close group though, and I'm sure all that hard work pays off in the end.

Anyone just get an invite from Loyola and then have it immediately rescinded?

Haha... that was a definite kick in the balls. I guess I should probably just consider that a rejection. Double ouch.
