Twice around? was created by southpaw
As if the plastic on the credit card wasn't smokin' enough...

Is anyone planning a second look to clarify their ROL. Is this perceived as desperate or interest? My top 4-5 are very similar and interview days are geared toward seeing only the bright side.

whaddya think?

Replied by on topic i am going to do
i am going to do another look at a program in new york and one here in chicago, for two reasons:

1) they are very similar, and i would like to get a better sense of the programs

2) i feel that it might help me move up the lists

certain programs have told me that they liked me, and that if i wanted to go there, i should really come back for a second look. i am primarily looking at smaller programs (four or less) and they told me that they really want to be sure they know the candidate, because one bad resident can really screw up the program.

so spending a couple of days out there might help. might not. at this point, i don't see a reason not to.

Pardon my ignorance, but, what does a 2nd look entail?

Just visiting....basically call the program and tell them you want to hang out to see what really goes on (besides what you saw during your interview). Maybe hang out in clinic or go to the OR (if you are really a go-getter). I would guess it depends on the program, too.
