Hello everyone.
currently starting my 3rd year of medical school and wanted to see what people think of my chances.
step 1 >>258
preclinical grades all passes
meaningful volunteer experience
1 pub in orthopedics (3rd author) 2 more pending.. and a presentation
no clinical grades as of yet
assuming I will score above a 255 in step 2
I believe I am top in my class for achieving AOA
==> there is a red flag on my application. there may be a record of me drinking while driving but it was not a felony nor misdemeanor but was charged as something equivalent to a traffic ticket but may still come up as drinking... aside from this my academic and criminal record have no other red flags
what are my chances of still being able to match at a decent program or a program at all?
The "red flag" won't come up during interviews or influence your match.
It will be important for licensing, so make sure to be ready to provide information relevant to the incident to the licensing body for the state in which you match. Usually, they require all relevant documents directly from the court or from your lawyer.
