Completely variable and related to type of practice - academic, private practice, military. In general, you can "take" as much vacation as you want but recognize of course that while you're away there is no income being generated! Not like a retail store where the manager takes a vacation but the store is still open and people are buying the merchandise. My friends in private practice typically take 4-6 weeks off a year depending on their situation --
