concerns about clinical grades was created by dudelebowski
To the attendings:
I am fully aware that it is the entire application that is taken into consideration in regards to granting interviews, but I have a concern about clinical grades. Unfortunately for me I have no clinical honors and six high pass marks (but all excellent written evals). I would say that most of my fellow classmates applying to ortho have 2-3/6 clinical honors. We all performed well as a group in Step 1 (> 240). Obviously I am not AOA. My research experiences have been all non-ortho, but hopefully will be submitted soon.
My question is whether or not my lack of clinic honors is significant enough for me to not be considered at top institutions (by reputation I guess). I have the chance to do my second rotation at a dream spot in phili and I am wondering whether, with my clinical grades, I should be more cautious and do a rotation at a place that I have a more realistic chance of matching. Any thoughts?
Thank you

I would encourage you to do your acting internship at the programs that you are most interested in. Your >240 USLME score will get you past the initial screen of most programs. We've certainly interviewed students who did not have any clinical honors (if there are other positive criteria in the application, of course).
