Carilion Clinic Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking applicants for a Orthopedic Consult Associate. This position is intended as a transitional position for a physician who has completed a PGY-1 year, but has not yet matched into an orthopedic surgery residency. This is a developmental position, intended to give the individual hands-on experience with orthoapedic surgery inpatient and ER consults, as well as develop surgical skills and gain additional exposure to the orthopaedic surgery educational curriculum.

This position is appropriate for unmatched applicants who are ultimately seeking a orthoapedic surgery residency position. This developmental year will allow the individual to gain more orthopedic experience in preparation for orthopaedic residency. This position is intended to improve the individual’s application for orthopaedic residency as well as prepare them for eventual practice.  The Orthopedic Consult Associate will work directly with the faculty, seeing consults in the inpatient setting as well as the emergency department.  They will perform bedside  procedures and assist with surgical cases. The Orthopedic Consult Associate will attend the departmental educational conferences. While this year is expected to be educational and will further career development, this is not a formal training position.

The primary clinical site will be Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke VA. Roanoke is a very livable city in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern Virginia. Pay  / benefits are competitive. Carilion Clinic is an equal opportunity employer.
