The orthopaedic residency program at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center (Seton Hall University) has recently been granted an increase in resident complement from two to three residents a year. We will be taking three residents in the match and have been allowed to fill a PGY-2 position outside the match. We are currently accepting applications for the position. Thank you for all of the interest. We are still accepting applications. However, please note that to apply for the position you must have completed a PGY-1 year that will qualify you for a position in orthopaedic surgery. Please see below (from ACGME website - [url] www.acgme.org/acWebsite/downloads/RRC_pr...csurgery07012007.pdf [/url]).

In order to meet these goals, the PGY-1 year must include:

a) a minimum of six months of structured education in surgery,
to include multi-system trauma, plastic surgery/burn care,
intensive care, and vascular surgery;

b) a minimum of one month of structured education in at least
three of the following: emergency medicine, medical/cardiac
intensive care, internal medicine, neurology, neurological
surgery, pediatric surgery or pediatrics, rheumatology,
anesthesiology, musculoskeletal imaging, and rehabilitation;
and,

c) a maximum of three months of orthopaedic surgery.

Also, one of the letters should be from your current program director.
