I have gotten a lot of PMs about this, and figure it is best just to post this so everyone has access to the info. I waited a while just to make sure that everything was accurate and confirmed (at least as much as possible).

a friend of mine is a pgy4 at wash u. I know for a fact that one of the current PGY3s was "let go" at the end of his pgy2 year. The current pgy3 class is one down. The last time I talked to my buddy, he/she mentioned that the program director was "wary" of advertising and getting somebody to transfer over beacuse of potential problems with the resident (that is, if they had problems at the program they are currently at causing them to want to leave, they may have similar problems at wash u)

I also know that the pgy3 class themselves (at least according to my friend) wants a replacement - however, the administration is a bit wary for the reasons listed above.

If you are in a different siutation (want to be somewhere else for a good, non-drama, non-disiplinary reason) - I would encourage you to get in touch with them. Again, there is nothing official out there recruiting wise, but the facts above are true, and they are down a person.

I think it's one of those "if someone perfect falls into their lap" situations. It is obviously a very competitive program.....it sounds like it is going to take an exceptional applicant with the right circumstances for this to happen. But if you need to be somewhere else for some reason, I would give it a try - there is really nothing to lose if you are committed to leaving your current program.

In any case, thought this may help some of you.
