Currently a general surgery resident and hoping to get some input and thoughts/answers on some questions about careers in hand surgery.
What is/are the top places for hand fellowships? How much does it matter to be Ortho trained vs General surg/Plastic background? Are hand and microsurgery fellowships less attainable/tougher to get with a General surgery background? What is the percent of Ortho trained vs General surgery/Plastic trained hand surgeons? I've checked with the ASSH and with some FD's and noticed that some programs are Orthopaedic accredited, others have general accredation, what orthopaedic accredited programs consider and accept general surgery applicants? Wanted to get a general opinion on these questions. Much obliged...
Sincerely,
doc
