About This Event
The 2026 San Diego Day of Trauma is designed to provide an in-depth examination of the expanding role of artificial intelligence in trauma care and its implications for clinical decision-making, operative practice, multidisciplinary coordination, and patient outcomes. As AI applications continue to expand across health care, trauma professionals are increasingly challenged to determine where these tools can enhance care and where the knowledge, judgment, adaptability, technical expertise, and emotional intelligence of clinicians remain essential. In the setting of acute injury, high-risk intervention, and complex systems-based care, the integration of AI requires thoughtful assessment of its benefits, limitations, and implications for patient-centered practice. By participating in this activity, learners will be better prepared to evaluate emerging technologies, identify practical opportunities for implementation, and preserve the human dimensions of trauma care that are essential to quality, safety, and outcomes.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review current and emerging applications of AI in trauma care.
- Assess the strengths and limitations of AI across key trauma specialties and clinical decision-making.
- Recognize where human judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration remain essential.
- Discuss ethical, patient-centered, and practical considerations related to AI implementation.
- Identify strategies for responsibly integrating AI into trauma care while preserving human-centered outcomes.
