The Orthopedic Research Fellowship is a one year funded professional
development opportunity for rising 4th year medical students and/or MD
or DO graduates with an interest in orthopedic surgery. Fellows will design,
implement, analyze, present, and publish research projects under the guidance
of the director of research and attending surgeons.
Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education is offering a one-year research fellowship in orthopaedic research with Florida Orthopaedic Institute (FOI) attendings. The fellowship will begin May/June 2026. The primary function of the research fellow is to coordinate orthopaedic clinical research protocols involving idea creation, protocol formulation, IRB submission, screening/enrolling patients, and maintaining follow-up outcomes for open studies/databases.

Beginning in 2012, the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery established a year-long orthopaedic research fellowship to provide medical students with a comprehensive musculoskeletal experience through a blend of research (70%) and clinical (30%) exposure. The program is designed for medical students and unmatched applicants with an interest in a career in orthopaedic surgery.
