Orthogate Press

About Orthogate Press

Orthogate Press operates on the model of a knowledge-based economy, to which we contribute by providing peer-reviewed publications unfettered by the desire to commodify thought or to restrict access to ideas.

We are dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge and research through open access digital journals and monographs, as well as through new electronic media.

One of our mandates is to publish innovative and experimental works that challenge established canons, subjects, and formats.

We plan to develop series that contribute to the scholarship of established and new disciplines. As we are dedicated to making Orthogate Press publications accessible to a broad readership through open access technologies, we cultivate the areas of open, distance, and e-learning.

Knowledge without barriers

Open Knowledge, Responsibly Shared

Open Educational Resources

Open educational resources (OER) are freely accessible, openly licensed text, media, and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning, assessment, and research.

The development and promotion of OER is motivated by a desire to provide an alternate or enhanced educational model built around access, participation, and the open exchange of knowledge.

Creative Commons License

A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted work.

Creative Commons gives authors flexibility while allowing people to share, use, and build upon a work according to the conditions selected by its creator.

Better learning through open collaboration

The Future Is Bright.

Orthogate Press brings clinicians, educators, researchers, and learners together to make trusted orthopaedic knowledge easier to access and share.

Education as a shared resource

The Movement

The worldwide OER movement is rooted in the human right to access high-quality education. This shift in educational practice is not just about cost savings and easy access to openly licensed content; it is about participation and co-creation.

Open Educational Resources offer opportunities for systemic change in teaching and learning by engaging educators in participatory processes and using effective technologies to connect learners with knowledge.
