MANGALURU: A 20 year old woman will soon regain mobility she lost two years back to cancerous tumour on her left leg, thanks to a complex surgery performed at the Indiana Hospital here.
The woman from Kannur, Naseema (name changed) was suffering from cancerous tumour on her left knee which recurred after initial surgery done elsewhere. The only option in such situation was amputation, an option which the woman refused to take. The woman's parents visited multiple hospitals where the only option given was amputation.
Dr Jalaluddin Akbar, cancer surgeon at Indiana Hospital and Heart Institute said: it was a complicated surgery which took eight hours.
