TEAM
- Collaborate on a team with 2 other clinical research coordinators
- Work directly with Greg Gaski MD, 6 additional surgeon investigators and service line research director PhD
- 5 physician assistants/nurse practitioners
- 6 orthopaedic surgery residents (Georgetown and Walter Reed)
- Undergraduate and medical student volunteers
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist clinical research coordinators with prospective funded studies
- Data collection and entry
- Conduct patient interviews, physical exams, follow-up visits, enrollment, and consenting
- Daily participation in team clinical rounds for patient screening
- Assistance with statistical analyses (optional)
- Travel to Orthopaedic Trauma Association annual meeting
- Coordinate financial aspects of clinical trial implementation through study closure
- Provide regulatory, IRB, and budgetary guidance and support to coordinators and investigators
- Assist with grant writing
- Work directly with the Office of Research at Inova
- Grants management office, IRB, contracts, billing compliance
- Scientific collaboration with numerous nationally renowned trauma centers and study sponsors
- Assistance with surgeon-investigator initiated retrospective studies including design and analysis
OPPORTUNITIES
- Contribute to abstracts and manuscripts
- Typically, we submit 10-12 abstracts annually to the Orthopaedic Trauma Association annual meeting and the Virginia Orthopaedic Society annual meeting
- Our research infrastructure can support high research output (publications, presentations) depending on student goals and interests
- Research mentorship experience from PhD-level research analysts
- Operating Room observation and clinic shadowing opportunities available
- 3-5 operating rooms daily
- Attend attending lectures, monthly journal clubs, morbidity conference and other academic offerings (all optional)
