Required Qualifications
- Interest in value-based care and/or one or more clinical areas within the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care
- Accepted or currently enrolled in medical school
- Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Responsible and timely, with the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and the ability to work both independently and as a team
- Professional and collegial attitude
- Completion of college-level statistics coursework and/or experience with data analysis
- Prior experience with core research-related competencies, such as study design, preparing presentations and/or posters
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with data analysis
- Familiarity with SAS/Stata
- Fluency in Spanish
Responsibilities
- Work with Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care faculty on research projects relevant to value based health care payment and delivery models.
- Duties may include but are not limited to: literature review; patient recruitment; data collection, entry, and analysis; abstract and manuscript writing; administrative duties as needed to support research projects.
- Abide by all research standards, including compliance with documentation requirements, ethical conduct of research, and good clinical practices.
- Help prepare research-related presentations and publications presented by Surgery and Perioperative Care faculty at national conferences.
- Opportunities for observation and shadowing in the clinic and/or operating room may be available depending on interest and receipt of required clearances and approvals.
Deliverables
Expectations for deliverables will vary by project, but will typically include the preparation of an abstract and/or manuscript for each research project. Expectations will be discussed in an ongoing basis with the project Principal Investigator and during weekly meetings with the Associate Director of Research.
Compensation
This is a paid internship at a rate of $15/hour.
